Aldridge Brownlee 80th Anniversary Celebration Success
Posted By Susie on September 21, 2009
Bournemouth-based solicitors Aldridge Brownlee celebrated its 80th birthday in style this year by hosting a 1920’s vintage-themed fayre at Winton Recreation Ground on Saturday 5th September. Everyone was invited to the party, which was free entry to all and not for profit, and organisers RT Media put attendance figures at over 4000 people throughout the day.
Fine weather graced the fayre, which featured more than 60 exhibitors and raised over £600 for chosen local charites Pramacare and Julia’s House through a raffle and exhibitor donations. The event was supported by Heart FM and the Bournemouth Echo, who were both present to join in the celebrations.
People came to browse and buy from the numerous art and craft stalls, sample the best locally produced foods or sit in the deckchairs and soak up the nostalgic atmosphere at the main stage created by live performances from local dance school Dance Crazy and a 17-piece Big Band. In the main tent visitors were able to view a timeline of events though history, see a talk and presentation of vintage clothing from local expert Patricia Godwin, view historic photographs from the forthcoming Streets of Bournemouth online museum and meet acclaimed local author and historian, Rodney Legg. Around the perimeter of the fayreground, a collection of cars provided by the Three Counties Vintage & Classic Car Club drew many admirers.
A traditional Punch & Judy show was performed at intervals throughout the day and was a big draw for the younger visitors to the fayre, as were the hundreds of free 80th birthday balloons and balloon shaped creatures and flowers that were given out.
Aldridge Brownlee Practice Manager Paul Sherman commented on the success of the birthday celebrations; ‘Aldridge Brownlee has been delighted to host the Bournemouth Vintage Fayre to celebrate 80 years of providing a full range of legal services to both the public and businesses across the Bournemouth area. We trust everyone has had a great time with us today and we’ve been happy to raise funds for our local charites Pramacare and Julia’s House.’
RT Media Creative Director Ross Thornley congratulated his team for organising such a successful event; “Months of hard work from the team has paid off today with an event that has enabled Aldridge Brownlee to thank the community for their support over the last 80 years and really differentiate themselves. The feedback already has been outstanding and everyone at RT Media should be proud of a well-run day.”

s cooking with Roasting Planks, BBQ Planks and Wood Paper. Wood has been used for centuries to flavour fish, meat, vegetables and fruit over an open fire, it was the Pacific Northwest natives who traditionally cooked wild salmon from the Columbia River by smoking a whole salmon on a Cedar or Alder wood plank. When a Roasting Plank, BBQ Plank or Wood Paper is soaked in water, the wood returns to its fresh just cut flavour and the moisture and smoky aroma is released through slow cooking, either in an oven or on a BBQ, to flavour your food. Foods cooked using wood are more moist, juicy and succulent as well as more flavourful.
